This project is based on Stokes Law which states that: “as spherical
objects move through a column of viscous fluid, under the influence of gravity,
forces act in resistance to their movement.”
Purpose: To find out if
non-spherical objects when dropped in viscous fluids such as glycerine and corn
syrup experience a 'drag' effect.
Hypothesis: Non-spherical objects falling
through viscous fluids experience a 'drag' effect.
I discovered that: each of
the non-spherical objects experienced ‘drag’ effect. Parallelogram shaped clay
objects took the longest amount of time to move through the two fluids – ‘drag’
being maximum. The data supported the hypothesis.
